Really liked this one even though it’s a later one in the J.P. Beaumont series. Perhaps J.A. Jance is back on track for a while. We get to understand the relationship with is first wife as well as son and daughter. Annie is still a mystery to me so far. Perhaps I’m quite far enough back.

At any rate, the plot lines were interesting. I don’t think I knew who the person/s were until Beaumont knew. Pairing him back with his old partner for a bit was a nice twist, as was seeing the antagonism develop between him and Kramer. Beaumont is clearly trying to stay on the wagon at this point, but finding it difficult when things get rough. Wonder how may detective series have main characters that are in AA? Lawrence Block has Matt Scudder.. anyone else?
